The Visual Arts Association announces two exhibitions

Each year, AVA organizes an annual exhibition of the members of the jury. Traditionally, the artist whose work achieves the highest score in the jury process is awarded a solo exhibition of their work in the AVA’s Main Gallery the following year. In 2021, for the first time in that tradition, Heath Montgomery tied for “Best in Show” with Donald Keefe and each artist was granted a solo exhibition.

Opening this Friday at 6 p.m., “replica” is a collection of recent works created by Mr. Montgomery exploring the idea of ”the copy” and “the original”, with works ranging from painting, sculpture and digital interactive pieces. These precise and dynamic works incorporate images from the history of ancient Western art, science and contemporary technologies.

Landis Education Gallery: AVA partners with Scenic City Clay Arts to host a showcase exhibition showcasing the diverse skills and talents of their teacher artists. This exhibition is one of the few ways that AVA will collaborate with SCCA in the coming months to highlight and celebrate the work and growth taking place in their organization. This exhibition will feature works by Lolly Durant, Marialice Hatch, Loren Howard, Nichole Johnson, Nicole Nichols and Paul Whetstone.

Both exhibitions will be visible at the AVA until September 30. The opening reception will take place on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
