Roger is an experienced finance executive and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Grosvenor Property UK, one of the UK’s largest private urban landowners. Roger served on the board as Chief Financial Officer for 14 years and has overall responsibility for all financial aspects of the business, including overseeing strategy and research functions. During this period, he had significant exposure to asset management, property development and urban regeneration.
Previously, Roger held CFO positions in a variety of industries including financial services, retail and broadcasting. Roger is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales and a graduate of the University of Edinburgh.
Roger was made a Trustee of the National Portrait Gallery in 2018; he chairs the audit and risk committee and is a member of the finance committee and the board of directors of the National Portrait Gallery Company. Roger is also a member of the Audit and Review Committee at Oxford University and a member of the Finance and Estates Committees at University College London.
The administrators of the National Portrait Gallery are not remunerated. Roger’s term was initially extended for 5 months; it was then renewed for a term of 3 years and 7 months.
This renewal was carried out in accordance with the Cabinet Office Governance Code for Public Appointments. The process is regulated by the Public Appointments Commissioner. The Government Governance Code requires that any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the past five years be disclosed. This is defined to include holding office, speaking in public, making a recordable donation or running for office. Roger Blundell reported no activity.
