In photos: Art lovers flock to Cayman Art Week exhibits
The work of dozens of local artists was on display at more than 50 pop-up events, exhibitions and open workshops across the Cayman Islands during Cayman Art Week, which ran from June 22-26.
Each day the event focused on a different area, with CAW West (West Bay and Seven Mile Beach), CAW Central and CAW East, and buses brought art lovers to the different venues in the districts.
Cayman Art Week was launched last year as a way to connect artists and galleries directly with art collectors and patrons, explained National Gallery director Natalie Urquhart.
She said the annual event aims to “introduce new audiences and welcome back long-time supporters to the Cayman arts scene, so it was exciting to see so many returning as well as new faces at the Cayman Islands events. TCA this year.”
She added: “We are grateful to everyone who has come out to support galleries and artists, and hope we see this momentum continue as we begin to plan for CAW23 – providing a platform for artists and gallery owners to connect. directly with collectors and art lovers. .”
The main partners for Art Week were Susan A. Olde, the Department of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, Provenance Properties Cayman Islands, George Town Revitalisation, National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
