Did someone say a scandalous party at the National Portrait Gallery?

Calling all glam-punks, royal-rebels and glitzy-queens – The National Portrait Gallery is throwing a scandalous party and you’re all invited!

Starting from 7:30 p.m. and continuing until late into the night, the one-of-a-kind shindig is here to celebrate the Shakespeare at Winehouse exhibition, bringing to life a party worthy of famous faces.

That’s right, it’s the ultimate nighttime celebration of glitz, chains, extreme theatrics, glamour, bright lights and good vibes. And with live music, performances by burlesque queens as well as a whole lot (a flap? a tuck?) of traveling fashion, you won’t want to miss this.

With live music from the loud, hilarious, shameless, frenetic, fierce and fun Canberra band Glitoris, as well as Charlie Villas (one of Sydney’s favorite party starters) and disco-dramarama queen Tanzer, you can expect a mix of disco, provocative punk and pop harmonies with a hint of dramatic theatre.

But that’s not all. Partygoers can also enjoy performances from burlesque queen Jazida (adored for her specialty in fan dancing) and comedy queen of teasing Rosie Rivette. They’ll capture your heart with their cheeky, fun performances before hitting you where the sun doesn’t shine, leaving you wanting more.

A much-loved face in the queer underground, Sydney drag queen Aaron Manhattan will host the evening and bring his signature performance style to the gallery in an act you won’t forget. And if that’s not enough to convince you to participate in this party, the best dressed will win a personalized Doppelganger jewel by the pop art accessories brand Doodad and Fandango!

In addition to all the frivolity and fun of the night, your ticket also includes entry to Shakespeare at Winehouse: Icons from the National Portrait Gallery, London anytime during the long weekend (outside of holiday hours, of course). From Shakespeare to Winehouse, Darwin to Dickens, the Beatles, the Brontë sisters and Beckham, the exhibition is a unique opportunity to see famous faces from the 16th century to the present day. And with over 80 adoring treasures on the walls of the National Portrait Gallery, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore the stories of fame, power, love, loss and innovation before heading back to London.

Booking is essential, so be sure to clear your calendar and grab your dancing shoes – this party is just getting started.
