Art League hosts new exhibitions and events in September
Diverse works in different mediums are the hallmark of the exhibitions open at The Art League. This month’s exhibition features 103 works of art in oil, acrylic, watercolor, ceramics, photography, printmaking, and more. He was judged by painter Aaron Morgan Brown.
After escaping from the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001, painter George Robert Overhiser Jr. witnessed the carnage as he stood in front of a vendor’s cart three blocks away. and a half houses. Overhiser expresses the chaos of that tragic day in Impact: Reflections of 9/11, a 20-piece exhibition featuring stylized gouache on canvas; oil paints on the faceted stainless steel from which the vendors’ carts are made; canvas painted with gouache applied to the diamond pattern on the carriages; and curved stainless steel, oil painted with mobiles in mixed media.
Overhiser will discuss his exhibition and artistry on Sunday, September 18 from 2-3 p.m. at the Art League Gallery.
